Jerry Magni


Nato l'11 ottobre 1968 in provincia di Bergamo, Germano Giovanni Magni, detto Jerry, dopo la maturità (ITIS) frequenta la Scuola del Fumetto di Milano. Ancora studente realizza uno studio stilistico per una nuova linea di caffettiere.
Dopo il servizio militare dovette fare i conti con la grave crisi che colpisce il mondo del fumetto all'inizio degli anni '90 (e che sembra non finire mai). Comunque, dopo alcune esperienze in pubblicità, nell'editoria per bambini (didattica per scuole materne ed elementari), la collaborazione con la Fanzine Crash e la partecipazione ad alcune mostre di cui la più importante fu sicuramente Giovani Artisti per la Malesia organizzata dal GAI (Giovani Artisti Italiani) e presentata nei più importanti Istituti d'Arte di Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok e Singapore; nel 1994 debutta nel mondo dei fumetti sulle pagine di Demon Hunter (fumetto di qualità discutibilissima ma che è stato palestra per molti giovani disegnatori) di cui successivamente diventa anche
copertinista (1995-96). Nel '95, cavalcando la moda e la sua passione
per i tatuaggi, pubblica il suo primo libro illustrato Segni di Pelle.
Tra il 1996 e il 1997 collabora con la rivista di moda Tendence Europe per la quale realizza un fumetto alternativo intitolato Carne
Sprecata e alcune storie umoristiche.

Sempre nel '96 inizia la sua collaborazione con la rivista IdeaTattoo per la quale ha realizzato più di 10.000 disegni. Nel '98 acquista un Mac, con il quale familiarizza rapidamente realizzando centinaia di clip art per la rivista Clip Art e il suo secondo libro illustrato Triskell in cui
presenta centinaia di rivisitazioni dell'antico simbolo celtico. Nel
settembre '98 pubblica,sulla rivista Selen, il suo primo fumetto
erotico Tattoo Studio che riapparirà sulla versione olandese di
Penthouse Comix. Oltre ai lavori per l'editoria Jerry ha realizzato
anche copertine di dischi, manifesti, fumetti e illustrazioni
pubblicitarie, Logos per diverse aziende e Tromp-l'oeil per ville private e discoteche; cercando di spaziare il più possibile nel fantastico mondo del disegno.

Born in 11 october 1968 in a small town of North Italy, Germano Giovanni Magni alias Jerry, after the high school (Technical Industrial
Institute), specialized in Comics Design and Illustration at the Comics
School in Milan. Still Student, the first work of Jerry was a style
study for a new line of coffee-pots. After the compulsory military
service, he had to consider the crisis of italian and European comics at
the beginning of 90s that seems to have no end. Anyway, after some
experiences (pubblicity, kids and didactic publishing) in 94 he
published his first comic book on Demon Hunter (serial monthly italian comic book). After this, the publisher entrust the covers of the comic book to Jerry and the year later he published, for the same publisher, his first illustrated book Segni di Pelle (Skin Marks). This book collect 550 drawings (B&W and Coloured).
In 94 he has also took a part in an important itinerary exhibition that
was sheltered by the most important Institutes of Art of the South Est
Pacific (Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore..)
In 96 he has started the collaboration on *IdeaTattoo? an illustrated
monthly review that collect hundreds drawings for tattoos. This is the
most sold field review in Europe.
In 96/97 he has also collaborated with a fashion review Tendence
Europe, he drew two monthly pages of an alternative comic titled
Carne Sprecata (Wasted flesh). In 98 he has published my last illustrated book Triskell dedicated to this mithic celtic simbol.
In 98 I've also published an erotic comic, titled Tattoo Studio, on
Selen, one of the more sold review in Italy; this comic was published
on Penthouse Comix too (Holland version). In 98 he has also published
hundreads of draw for the monthly review Clip Art.
Besides these works, he drew for many more applications:
pubblicitary comics and illustrations, posters, CD covers, Trompe-l'oeil
for houses and discos and many logos.
